BROAD BAY REGATTA.

♦ That the annual. regatta at Broad Bay is one of the most popular outings of the year was again clearly proved yesterday, when the ferry steamers had their accommodation taxed to the utmost capacity on every trip. Crowds of picnickers lined the banks overlooking the bay and enjoyed themselves to the full. The regatta always induces boating men to enter freely, and this year was no exception to the rule, the entries being quite as numerous as on previous occasions. The committee who were responsible for the management were enthusiasts, and worked with a will to achieve success. The weather was beautiful for picnickers and competitors alike, though the breeze fell away in the afternoon. "The Fourth Regimental Band, under Lieutenant George, played an excellent programme of music ashore and on the water, the motor boat Meteor being lent by Mr W. J. P. M'Cullouch. The flagship was provided by Mr Moss's Medora, which was admirably suited for the purpose. Commodore Hanlon's Inishfree lay in the bay displaying plenty of bunting. The officials were :—President, Mr T. A, Maitland (who had charge of arrangements ashore); starter, Mr J. Scott; timekeepers, Messrs T. Soilness and D. Cooke; judges, Messrs J. E. Galbraith, D. Cooke, Jas. King; handicappers, Messrs A. Welsh and E. Knewstubb (motors) and R. Asher (yachts); while Mr J. O'Sullivan (secretary) and Mr J. F. Blackie (Press steward) were indefatigable in their efforts to supply information. The following are the. results : FIRST CLASS YACHT RACE—£I3 and coil of vacht line presented bv Mr J. E.
