The Rev. W. A. Sinclair returned ta Christchurch by the second express to-day. At Messrs Hogc and Co.'s factory on Saturday the employees met to bid 'farewell to Mr Walter Wright, the shop foreman, who is severing his connection with the firm Mr Wright, who is well known to the building trade, has been with the firm ever since they commenced mamifacw l '" 1 ?' Deceased was highly thought of by his employers, and it was only on his return on Friday that he received word of his promotion to a more important position in the Wellington office. His death is made doublv sad for his sisters, who recently lost their other brother. "Billy" Sparrow, as he was familiarly called, was a well-known cricketer a few years ago, when he played for Carisbrook.

The late 'Lord Peel's estate has been proved at £128,175. Last evening, at the conclusion of the service at the Men's Mission House, Filleul streot, the members of the Brotherhood of St. Andrew assembled to wish the Rev. W. A. Hamblett God-speed in his newsphere, and through, theirchaplain (theßev. V. G. Bryan King) they presented him with a robo case suitably inscribed. Mr Hamblett, in returning thanks, referred to the great help derived through his association wits the brotherhood extending over a number of years. Mr Hamblett has been licensed to the charge of the Mcsgiel and Taieri districts.
