Duncan got away from Harold at the start, but the latter put up a very stubborn contest, and was only beaten" 2 and 1. Kcnneday and Wright had an exciting fight until the thirteenth hole, but the Chrinchurch man played some magnificent golf for the last six holes. Kennedavcould not respond, being beaten 3 and 2. i This lett "Wright and A. Duncan and Wood and K.Duncan to fight out the semi-finals. Three hundred people slopped along the water-logged links to watch the WrHitDuncan match, and were rewarded by a magnificent exhibition of golf. Duncan won the first two holce, Wright driving out of bounds at the second. Along the river holes Wright recovered and got all square. Duncan was one up at the eighth. Several holes were then halved in succession. Wright won the twelfth and while Duncan fell into a bunker. At the fourteenth Wright landed on the green and Duncan topped his drive. At the "fifteenth Duncan fell short of the terrace but missed an Bft putt. Wright went over the green, but with an approaching shot putted within 3ft, and went out dorary 3." Duncan won the next in 4. The next wa« halved in 5, leaving the Christchurch champion 2 up and 1 to plav. Wood ran away from Ken Duncan, whom he beat t and_ 6. Wood and Wright will plav oftover 36 holes on Monday. In the professional final Butters (Invercargill) beat Simpson (Miramar), 1 up.
