The overseas section of the Imperial General Staff now consists of Colonel Robin (New Zealand i, Colonel Thacker (Canada), and Colonel Legge (Australia!. It is expected that South Africa will shortly send an officer.
A representative of Renter's Agency interviewed General Beyers. wJio is visiting England. The general said that all South Africans realised the responsibility of partially or entirely relieving the British taxpayer of the burden of Defence. The registration of all citizens liable for military service will begin in January. The, coast defence will not be disturbed, but the coast defence force will be available for the Imperial Navy in any part of the Empire. The present naval contribution will also be continued in addition.
