A DISASTROUS EXPEDITION. Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright SYDNEY, October 4. The German nv.iil steamer brings news of th-> murder of Captain Broetter in Germau New Guinea Captain Broetter's schooner, which carried a crew of four Europeans and 20 natives, was exploring the- north-west of Friedrich Wilhelrn.-ha.ven. The captain and another European were examining the river, when they were surrounded by native*. Captain Broetter was fatally speared, but his companion escaped by floating down the river on a log. The schooner has disappeared, and it is feared that she foundered in a storm with all hands. The German authorities have despatched a punitive expedition to the scene of the murder.
