Press Assooi&iion—By Telegraph—Copyright, SYDNEY, October 5. ,'Received October 5, at 9.50 a.m.) The Broken Hill minors have telegraphed to the Mount Lyell strikers not to go to Broken Hill, as hundreds are out of work. On the other kind, the managers declare that work is seriously ltampered by the lack of labor. A CONFERENCE IN CAMERA. MELBOURNE, October 5. (Received October 5, at 10.35 a_m.) Tho Mount Lyell Conference sat in camera, bnt adjourned till to-day, without a settlement. The executive of the Amalgamated Miners' Association here have decided to support the strikers. THE SEAMEN'S UNION. PROPOSAL TO CANCEL REGISTRATION. The Auckland, Wellington, and Dunedin branches of the Australasian Federated Seamen's Union have lodged with the Registrar tho customary six weeks' notice of the intention of the union to cancel its registration under tho Arbitration Act. During the six weeks' notice the union are taking a plebiscite voto of their members on the question as to whether the cancellation, of the registration shall become effective or otherwise. In the event of a majority of the members being in favor of cancellation, the union will withdraw from the Ait accordingly; but. if, on the contrary, the vote is against cancellation, thea tho notice with reference to it will bd withdrawn. The ballot commenced amongst, the seamen's, members on September 30, and is now in progress. It will close on November 9. This is necessary because of na many of the members being at sea or in distant ports of the colonics.
