The negotiations between the representatives of the Mount Lycll Company ;hkl the employees indicate that if the men will waive the question of the reinstatement of the dismissed men- the company are ready to practically concede everything else. (Received October 4, at 11.10 a.m.) Mr Justice Higgins has ordered a compulsory conference in connection! with the Mount Lycll dispute. SAUSAGE-CASE WORKERS STRIKE. MELBOURNE, October 5. Two hundred sax sage-case workers. have struck, demanding an incxea.sc of 2s weekly. A STRIKE RIOT. NEW YORK, October 3. (Received October 4, at 8.35 a.m.) The first riot to follow after the declaration of the strike of the railway workshopmen occurred at Houston (Texas) on the arrival of the strike-breakers. One man was killed and several were injured, UNSKILLED LABOR UNIONS’ AMALGAMATION. SYDNEY. October 4. (Received October 4, at 9.55 a-m.) A movement is afoot for the amalgamation of all unions of unskilled laborer;throughout Australia. It is estimated that there will ho a membership of tens of thousands.
