The-exccnlive of the Amalgamated Society of Railwayman at Dublin resolved to call a general strike of the Irish transport workers unless the railway companies unconditionally reinstate the strikers. (Received October 4, at 8.35 a..iu. ) After an eight weeks’ strike, which involved 6,000 men at tho Harwich Railway Works, a settlement largely in favor of the men lias been reached. The loss hi wages i 5.£36,000, and tho strike pay £19,000. RAILWAY COMMISSION CLOSE. LONDON, October 3. (Received October 4, at 10 a_m.) The Railway Commission terminated their sittings after bearing a Board of Trade witness in favor of the continuance of the expiring agreements and awards until fresh settlements had been reached, and also suggesting amendments to expedite their procedure.
