WELUNGTOFS MILK SUPPLf! VENDORS’ PROTEST. [Pea United Press Association.] WELLINGTON, October 4. A deputation representing the Fresh Food and Ice Company (in which £30,000 is invested) and other milk vendors waited on Sir James Carroll to-dav to object to what has been referred to as the monopoly clause of the City Council’s Pure Milk Bill, now before Parliament. A strong protest was entered against private concerns being driven out of the industry, and the opinion was expressed that if the Wellington Council were given a monopoly other cities would seek the same powers. The companies did not object to the severest inspection. Sir James Carroll promised that Cabinet would consider their representations. Only 20 of ©very 100 candidates for the London Police Force are successful in passing the entrance examination. LATE ADVERTISEMENTS. WANTED, A COAT HAND, also Smart IMPROVERS and APPRENTICES.
