EXPORT OF FRUIT.
NEW REGULATIONS WANTED. frees Association—By Telegraph—Copyright. SYDNEY, August 7. (Received August 7, at 8.45 a.m.) The Fruitgrowers' Union discussed the restrictLuiis on the export of fruit to New Zealand, nnd the Government's proposal to reduce the radius for the inspection of fruit from a mile to a quaitcr of a mile. The president stated tliat the growers wanted the radius deleted altogether. Mr Tooman, of Auckland, advocated accepting the quarter of a mile proposal, and he promised on returning to New Zealand to make representations at headquarters, with a view to having the pre»ent regulation, which pressed heavily on producers, re. laxed. Tlk> meeting decided to write to Pro feasor Kirk to ask that the regulation providing that 10 per cent, of the fruit be tipped and thoroughly examined before its export to New Zealand be relaxed.
