Mrs Blair lias resigned the presidency of the Women's Christian Temperance Union. The members of St. Paul's Church, Arrowtown, gave a farewell social to the Kev. H. Bia.th.wayt. who has been curate in the Wakatipu parish for three years, and who has been appointed vicar of Wyndham. During the evening Mr A. Goodley, on behalf of the members of St. Paul's, presented the Rev. Mr Blathwayt with a chiming clock, suitably inscribed. Mr H. Mandeno, who recently commenced the practice of his profession, was waited on to-day by his late fellow-em-ployees of Mr Anscombe's office, and presented with a bound volume as an expression of the high esteem in which he is held by thim. Mr J. H. Burr, who made the presen f tion on behalf of the .staff, referred eu 1 1 istically to Mr Mandeno and the kindlf relations that had always existed in the office, and expressed the hope that Mr Mandeno's future misrht bo a bright one. Mr Mandeno suitably responded. The Rev. George Wainwright, of Bath, who served the Hanover Street Baptist Church very acceptably soma years ago, but was compelled by failure of health to resign and leave the City, is returning- to this Dominion by the Moeraki, which arrives on Tuesday. After spending a few days here Mr Wainwright will proceed to Wellington, where, he will minister for a while to one of the Baptist churches there. Sergeant-major Wallingford, a prominent shot at Home, is coming out to New Zealand to take service with the Defence- Department. He is to leave Ixmclon on ths 51st inst.
