(Received August 5, at 8.4-5 a.m.) The political labor leagues in the. city have combined with the object of conducting a Labor municipal campaign. A Sydney Ann propose to begin the making of wool tops, and have applied for the Commonwealth bounty. Very little use so far has been made of the bounty system. The steamer Upolu shortly commences ;i monthly service between Auckland, Sydney, Noumea, and the New Hebrides. A tiro at Bangalow destroyed five shop?.. the damage of which is estimated at £6.000. The final allotment of shares in the Cooperative Assurance Company lias been made. The delay in allotment was caused by the absence of the New Zealand returns. Mr Trefle. explaining the State Government, land policy, said the Labor party do not propose over to touch the right*? of those landholders who have, under bargain with the Crown, the right to convert their holdings into freehold. The Government believed in loyally recognising all contract*. According to a statement made at a Methodist Social Union gathering 537 million, cigarettes were consumed in New South Wales iu 1909.
