A London message advises the death of the Right Rev. Francis Paget, D.D... Bishop of Oxford, in his 62nd year. Mr James M'Lay, presently head master at Livingstone, has been appointed by transfer head master at Warepa School, and enters upon his duties in a week or two. Mr M'Lay, who is well and favorably known in this district, is classified B, and is very highly spoken of as a teacher. The transfer was made at the request of the Warepa Committee.— 'Chitha Leader.'

Mr T. Somerville, chairman of the Bay Town Board, left by the Monowai this afternoon en route for the South Sea Islands. Ho expects to be away about two months. Yesterday afternoon the remains of the late Mr James Scott Alexander, a distinguished Oddfellow, were interred in the Northern Cemetery, in the presence of a large number of relatives, friends, and members of the 1.0.0. F. Religious services were performed at the residence by the Rev. Dr Nicolson and at the graveside by the Rev. R. R. M. Sutherland. These, were followed by an Oddfellows' service, conducted by Bro. Valentine, D.G.M-., and Bro. David Nicol, chaplain of Leith Lodge. The late brother was recognised as a man of most upright character. His deeds will long be remembered, his memory revered and cherished by all who knew him. He leaves a widow and family of six daughters and two sons. The Hon. T. Mackenzie went North by tho first express this morning.
