CHURCH ANNIVERSARY.

The annual meeting of the Roslyn Presbyterian Church was held last "evening, the Rev. W. Gray Dixon presiding. The report and balance-sheet were adopted, on the motion of the Rev. A.. M. Dalrymplo and Mr 1). S. Munro. The latter called attention to the satisfactory state of tho church's finances, as compared with those of the previous year. Their assets were more than £3,700 over their liabilities.

Mr R. S. Black urged that as they had reduced their indebtedness by over £IOO this year, they should make a still further effort for the coming financial year, as they were still paying interest on something like £1,300. Mr R. Chisholm referred to the sacrifices their young people had made in connection with the church choir, not only iu taking an important part iu the service, but in outside work, in providing a sum so large towards payment for the organ. The progress of the Sunday school under the superintendence of Mr W. Anderson was referred to in appreciative terms. The Rev. W. Gray Dixon remarked that at the close of nearly a year's labor in Roslyn he had no misgivings as to the wisdom of leaving Auckland and accepting the call to Roslyn, although his feelings wore sorely tried in breaking the connections that he had formed during his 10 years' residence in the northern city. He was thankful to say that there had been progress during his stay amongst them, for the weekly offerings had increased 50 per cent, and the communion roll 27 per cent. He had spared no pains to make his sermons as beautiful, interesting, and helpful as possible. He thought he might say he could make his pulpit deliverances of" interest to all classes, and he was sure they were not dry, although he would not give them what was called the " new theology." He knew, of course, that many of the residents in Roslyn were attached to [ the city churches, and he would not for a moment ask such to sever their old connections, but he believed there were enough Presbyterians in Roslyn to quite fiil their beautiful church in all parts. In conclusion, he thanked most heartily all those who, by brotherly co-operation, had i assisted him in his duties.. j, Th& choir, under the leadership of Mr Lindley, isalig several anthems, and Mr De Spong gave a number of recitations.
