WOMEN FOOTPADS.
Serge Iranoff. a retired officer of tlie Russian imperial Guards, was found lying unconscious outside the fortifications. A stranger to Paris, he set out for St. Cloud on Saturday evening-, Jane 10. On the wuy his vehicle broke down, and he started to return to Paris. Near tl»e Pare des Princes, the other side of Auteuil. he w»s attacked by two women, who relieved him of his purse and stabbed him with a knife. The Russian, who is a powerfully-built man, struggled with his aggressors, whereupon one of the amaaons,. putting a whistle to her lips, bfew three calls. Immediately afterwards three men rushed to tbe aid of their female confederates, and the visitor was felled with a blow from a knuckle clutter. The band then made off, but Ivanoff, stagering to his feet, started. in. pursuit, calling for help. Seeing this, two of the gang retraced tbeir steps and"savagely attacked their victim afresh with knives, leaving him for dead. Ivanoff remembers ■ nothing > more until he found himself in hospital. On his back and chest were 10 knife stabs, two just missing tbe heart. How he. escaped death is a wonder. The two women who participated in the attack have been captured, and the police are also hopeful of speedily catching their male - associates.—' Daily Chronicle's' Paris correspondent.
