INSPECTING TERRITORIALS.
RIOTOUS BEHAVIOUR BY PETONE LARRIKINS. [Pee, United Press Association.] WELLINGTON. August 1. Some 200 newly-enrolled Territorials in the Hutt Yalloy received summonses to attend for medical inspection last night. Ilia summonses were obeyed, but there was -a most nnmilitnry-like display and riotops insubordination. For an hour before the appointed time a rabbis of youths marched about the streets of Petone. shouting, hooting. and banging tins. Arrived at their destination, they defied all the attempts of Sergoant-major Millet to range them into any semblance of order, and for a time took charge of the proceedings. They laughed at and hooted the sergeant-major, throwing mud at him freely. He wisely kept his temper, and after one mud slinger had received chastisement at his hands the examination was proceeded with, under difficulties. The worst of the culprits appeared to be boys under 16 or 17 years of age. The medical inspection in the Otago and Southland districts has been almost completed, and the results have been very satisfactory from every point of view. The conduct of the newly-enrolled Territorials has been excellent, and the results of the medical inspection indicate a high standard of physical fitnees.
