MEETINGS AND SOCIALS.

CONCERT AT MOSGEEL. A concert was given in the Volunteer Hall, Mosgie], by Mr J. H. Hatton’s pupils, and was a success from every point of view. Tho orchestra, which was a strong one, included : Mandolins Misses M'Leod, Hunter. Fraser, and Mi- Triggs; banjos, Miss Brown and Mr Eriliaua; guitars, Misses Knott and Miller; ’cello, Mr N. Brown ; piano, Mr Hutton. The selections contributed by the orchestra were much appreciated. Other items were supplied by Master C. Tucker (violin solo). Miss N. Brown (banjo solo), Miss A. Knott (vocal solos), Mr L. Spiro (violin solo). Miss Hunter and M'Leod and Mr Triggs (mandolin trio), Mrs Hutton (vocal solos). Miss T. Jacobs (violin solo). Miss Brown (vocal solo). Miss Jacobs, Mr Spiro, and Master Tucker (violin trio), Matapura Erihana (banjo solo), Mr Triggs (mandolin solo). Tho accompanists were Misses A. Brown, M. Dramm, A. Knott, and Mr Hutton. Bo fore the concert a programme of good music was played in front of tho hall by the Mosgiel Brass Band. ■ST. KILDA FAIR. The Coronation Fair in aid of the Methodist. Church at St. Hilda was brought to an end yesterday. Tho takings for the three days come to £lls. During the evening the St. Kilda Physical Culture Club gave a display of calisthenics. The vocal competition for girls and hove over 14 years of ago was von by Miss Valera Black, with, the Misses Shrimpton and Sparrow (equal) second. M.i.-s Pearl Black won the competition for those under 14. and Miss Cathie Aslin was second. CULLING PARK IMPROVEMENT. A meeting of the Culling Parle Improvement Committee was’heid in Musselburgh School last night, Mr J. Harris in the chair. The conveners of the gentlemen’s committees in connection with the forthcoming bazaar repiorted favorably on the progress made. It was decided to hold a gift evening in St. Kilda Town Hail early next month, to take the form of a euchre tournament and social. It was resolved that the secretary write to the O.F.A, asking the earliest, date at which the park would bo available, as the. committee were anxious to proceed with the work of topdressing right away. LANCASHIRE AND YORKSHIRE SOCIETY. The above society hold the-Lr monthly basket social on Thursday evening in the Trades Hail. Mr W. M. ; •'! occupied tho chair. There were, a Luge number of members and friends present. A vote of sympathy was passed to Mr J. II- ChappeL (president of the society), and hopes of ins speedy recovery from his accident wore expressed. The musical items were of a specially good quality, and much enjoyed. Tim following contributed items: —Mrs Bell, Mass E. Mayall, Messrs Dickenson, Hall, and Stewart (songs), Miss Olive FeJminghara (recitations), Mr Spencer (violin solos), Mr C. Frye (dialect reading). Miss Beil was accompanist. The music, for dancing was provided by Mr G. Jackson, and Mr R. Jackson acted as MX.

SCOTCH CONCERT. A Scotch concert in aid of the building fund of the Roslyu Methodist Sunday School was held in the Wakari Hall, Kaikorai, on Thursday night. The Burns Club and Roslya Methodist Choirs, numbering 70 voices, had combined for the occasion, and rendered several choruses very effectively. The soloists were Mrs Jas. Todd, bliss Aggie Allan, Messrs M ‘Clyraout, Geo. Brisbane, and A. G. Crcrar, each having to respond to an enthusiastic encore. Miss Todd played as a violin solo ‘ Culloden ’ (encoredj. Mr S. S. Hariock was encored for his recitation, ‘ The Husband’s Story.’ Miss Ethel Carter delighted the audience with her step dancing. Pipe-major M‘Cal him opened the concert with a bagpipe selection, and also played for the Highland dances. Miss E. Wright acted as accompanist, and Mr Jas. Paterson wielded the baton.
