The songs and tecitations contributed made up an entertaining prograr»ne —one that was worth listening to. The following contributed : Messrs J. H. Matheson, S. Angell, C. Otto, D. CHRISTIAN ENDEAVORERS SOCIAL.

Tho fifth annual social meeting of tho Ravonsbourne Primitive Methodist Christian Endeavor Society was held on Tuesday night, the Rev. J. B. Suckling presiding ovor a largo attendance. During the eveninn items of entertainment were given by Misses Milnes, Palmer, Butterworth, Forester, Messrs Warburton, Cuttle, and Hutton. There was a book-guessing competition. Tho annual report showed a membership of twenty-one. Gratitude for untiring efforts was expressed to the president (Rev. Mr Suckling).

Mr C. H. Hinman's mission at South Dunedin was continued in the Gospel Hall last night. There was a large attendance, among those present being many who had heard Mr Hinman during the previous meetings at Caversham. The parable of the good Samaritan furnished the subject for the speaker, and an earnest address was given from that well-known Bible story. Mr Hinman's personal knowledge of the notoriously dangerous road from Jerusalem to Jericho enabled him to picture the incidents of the parable with great vividity. The road taken by the victim was a downward one, and this was likened to the course taken by the sinner. Helplessly lying stripped and wounded by the roadside, the unfortunate traveller was a fitting picture of man by nature and practice, and the priest and Levite, a3 representatives of the law, were powerless to help. But the good Samaritan, typifying Christ the Saviour, wrought a complete work of deliverance, not leaving the helpless one anything to do but to submit to hi 3 goodness and mercy. The hope of the needy sinner must not be placed in the keeping of the law, but in the salvation so dearly bought for us by Jesus Christ. The speaker therefore made a closing appeal to men and women to let Christ be the good Samaritan of the so«L The subject of to-night's address will bo ' The Siege of Jericho,' when Mr Hinman's knowledge of the Holy Land will doubtless be used to illustrate an interesting subject.
