The funeral has just taken place in the little Alpine cemetery of Obcrfrich of an old peasant who died while on his way back over the snow-clad elopes from a large villas© where ho had bought a wreath to put on his wife’s grave. He foil exhausted, and was found half-buried in the snow, wreath in hand. In the window of a well-known taxidermist in Edinburgh is to be seen the figure of a starling perched on a golf ball and enclosed in a neat glass case. The poor tird is mounted on the sphere that caused its death The incident happened on the golf-course at Eli©. The bird was struck while in flight, and instantly killed. Fever wad other disease germs, sewer gas, foul smells should bo guarded against in this weather. The best preventive is the free use of K.P.
