There were many quarrels between them, and yesterday he thrice shot her with his revolver. After she had bcou taken to the hospital Kurtz barricaded tbo doors of tlm bouse, saturated the furniture with petroleum, and set fire to it. He then went on to the balcony and harangued the crowd, concluding by shooting himself before the public as the house was enveloped in ilam-is.
