NORTH AND SOUTH. [Per. United Pur,:-s Association.] fTIKISTCIICUCH, May 23. The latest figures to reach the Hon. D. Buddo give, the population of the two islands as follows :—North ls]and~-1911. 543.596; 1906. 473,895; increase. 69.501. South Inland—l9ll, 441.253: 1306, 596,108; increase, -15.150/ The total papulation of New Zealand has advanced from 800,003 to 984,654. The figures are still incomplete, but the returns to come are small. The relative, positions of the two islands, said Mr Uuddo, had altered since th;' List batch of return.-' reached hi/n, the. North having, increased 24,351 more than the South.
