LEITH WARD ELECTION.
TO TBJS KDIXOK. Sir, —In your issuo of to-night a correspondent over the name of "Accurate Results" expresses his pleasure at the- suggested recount in connection with the Leith Ward election of councillors, and his regret that it is necessary to petition tho magistrate to obtain the same. I would suggest to your correspondent and others that the truly British mode of accepting defeat is to do so manfully, and I <un confident that had Cr Douglas been placed fourth on tho list there would never have been a suggestion from him of a recount. This, I consider, is cue test by which the electors can determine the suitability of tho respective candidates for public honors. —I am, etc, Briton. May 1.
