He was quite in accord wiih the Federal Government as far as the proposed referendum related to effective arbitration, the new protection, aim the nationalisation of monopolies. These were all planks in the Labor platform. As far as their proposals went beyond these planks lie was opposed to them, and would advocate their rejection. Mr Veiran, Premier of South Australia, who is visiting Sydney, stales that he and his colleagues entirely favor tho referenda proposals, as their operation will enable State Labor Governments to evade the obstructive tactics of nominee Legislative Councils.
