Mrs Joyce presiding) dealt with the methods of despatching girl emigrants to Australia, and their treatment on arrival. It was stated that no pioper immigrants' homes were provided in New South Wales, Westralia, or Queensland, and that, the arrangements aboard many vessels were not good. Tho girls landed friendless and unprotected. The meeting resolved to bring definite cases before the Agents-General. Victoria was not mentioned, while New Zealand's excellent arrangements were commended. AN INQUIRY DKSIRED. LONDON, December 8. (Received December 9, at 10.5 turn.) Tho 'lmperial Colonist' magazine publishes a report of the conference, demanding more adequate protection for women emigrants. A resolution was caviled that the conference, having received unsatisfactory information about the method of dealing with emigrants to New South Wale-; and Queensland, would be glad to hear if the Colonial Institute's Committee were prepared to inquire into the arrangements made try the Agents-General for the safety and well-being of women on arrival in Australia.
