(Received December 8, at 9 53 a.m.) Speaking in the Second Chamber, Dr Van Swindoren {Minister of Foreign Affairs) said that tho Fortifications JJil! was inspired solely as a national duty and defence against an eventual menace to their independence. He added that Great Rritain knew that Holland'* intention were in nowiw hostile, arid he might be permitted to hope that the heads of the .States of Great Hrifain and Frame woidd shortlv vis=it- the Netherlands.
