In the Legislative Assembly Mr Beeby promised an. amendment of the Early Closing Act, in order fo enable retail shops to keep open on Christ-mas Evo. Mr M'Gowen announced that the Government would consider tho question of taking steps to remove certain powers from tho Railway Comrniasiotiors, which Air Y. Partes said were greater than those possessed by Parliament. Tho Premier informed Mr Wado that tho immigration vote on tho Estimate*; would be equal to that of last year, which, however, had not been wholly expended. (Received December 8, at 9.30 a.m.) The Assembly Bill, enabling shopkeepers to opan on Christmas Eve, has parsed through committee.
