At the civic lunch given prior to his departure the Duke of Coimaught expressed his deepest thanks for tho splendid hospitality and unvarying kindness and consideration which had everywhere been shown him. He was strongly convinced that the South African Union was a great work, well fashioned, and based on sound, durable lines. ][ the public men put aside things that did not matter and used the Union for the purpose of making South Africa great and prosperous, they need have no apprehension. When the Royal party sailed for England thousands of people cheered them on the wharf. Salutes were lired from the fort and from H.M.S. Hermes.
