[FrtoM our Parliamentary PiEi'Oß'rEn.] WELLINGTON, November 29. PASTORAL RUNS. The Washing-up Bill contains these provisions relating to payment to mnholders for their improvements: Whereas it is desirable to make better provision for tho disposal of pastoral runs, and for the payment by tho incoming tenant in respect of improvements on such runs the licenses of which are being reoffered at auction, be if therefore enacted: (1) Tho value of any improvements made on any run by the lessee or licensee may bo repaid to such lessee or licensee at the expiry of his lease or license out of any sum appropriated bv Parliament for such purpose. (2) When a run on which are any improvements which havo been paid for as aforesaid is relet under similar or different tenure, the value of these improvement/! shall bo paid for by the incoming tenant either by way of one cash payment, as provided in sections 72, 73, and 244 of the Land Act, 1908, or iu the manner provided in section 57 of the Land for Settlements Act, 1908, with respect to the value of buildings. (3) The Governor may, however, came the value of the aforesaid improvements to be added to the unimproved value of the. run instead of being paid for by the incoming tenant under tho preceding subsection, and in such ease the incoming tenant shall not acquire any ownership in the said improvements. |4) Where a. pastoral iun is subdivided prior to its being reotfered or relet, the value of improvements shall be apportioned amongst such subdivisions in such manner as tho Minister of Lands shall determine. (5) When the licence of a pastoral run is being reolfeied the Governor may cause the same to be disposed of either bv auction under Part VI. of the kind A'et, 1908, or on application, at such vearlv rent as the Board, subject to the approval of the, Governor, think fit. in a similar manner to the disposal of leases of small grazing runs on application, provided that the license shall contain all the provisions of Part VI. with regard to payment of rent or the fulfilment of conditions, and shall not containany of (he provisions of PartV. respecting tho occupation of lands. DUNFDIN MATTERS. Tho Dunedin Corporation are empowered under tho Bill to transfer part the shingle reserve .in tho old bed of the Water of Leith, known as section 66, block 56, to Mr F. W. Lyders. Other parts of the same reserve arc freed from trusts (for the health and recreation of the people of Duuedm) alfecting same.
