Thirteen members of the Central Trade Unions' Committco havo been arrested on charges of attempting 1o organise a demonstration against capital punishment. The Cossacks at Moscow dispersed a students' demonstration against the death penalty. Over 180 arrests were made, including sixty girls. CHARACTERISTIC COMMENTS. PARIS, November 28. Tho trade union newspapers, including ' L'Humamte,' characterise the death sentence passed on Durand for the murder of a so-called blackleg during the recent railway strike as a ferocious vengeance on the part of the bourgeoisie. Tho evidence showed that Durand (the secretary of tho union) himself proposed that tho question t>f tho assassination of tho blackleg should be put to tho vote.
