ANNUAL SYNOD. A convention in connection with ths annual Synod of the Methodist Church took place to-day in Trinity Methodist Church, Moray place. There were present the Revs. P." W. Fairclough (chairman), W. J. Williams, ]). J. Murray, W. Slade, G. T. Marshall, Win. Grigg, F. T. Read, T. W. Newbold, T. W. Vealie, J. A. HoshiiKr. W. Grecnslade, A. Reader, W. J. Oxbrov, M. A. R. Pratt, C. Blair, W. H. J!. Abbey, R. H. Wylie, R, R. Tinslcy, and Neho Hemi Papakahura (native minister), and the home missionaries W. Watson, C. A. Foston, A. Hopper, E. C. Sonici'villo. and S. J. Campbell. Alter devotional exercises the following elections took place:—Secretary, Rev. D. J. Murray; assistant secretaries. Revs. 1\ W. Vealie. and M. A. R. Pratt; reporters, Revs. F. T. Rcid and T. W. Xewbold. The R-ev. W. J. Williams read a very suggestive paper on ' The Relation of Christian Nurture to the .Doctrine of Conversion.' An interesting and profitable discussion followed, in which many took pari. The essayist was thanked for his very thoughtful and helpful paper, and ro-qtio.-led to have il. printed. Tho oral examinations of the candidates for ordination were fixed for Thursday morning, and the financial Synod for ten o'clock to-morrow.
