MINING.

The Mystery Flat dredge worked the full face last week, and found the cast side still very deep and drifty. Towards the end of the week a much better-looking wash, on a red clay bottom, came in in the centre and western sections. The face was nine chains wide, with an average depth of 22ft. During October the Undaunted Sluicing Company won 1270z of gold. The Cromwell Syndicate dredge made a start to work the beach below Bannockbum Creek, and the high river will not affect them. It is more than likely that good returns will be forthcoming for the summer.

The Lowburn dredge is doing very well, and if the machine was capable of handling the claim to advantage there is very little doubt it would be quite as good as the Shine and Sun claims.— 1 Cromwell Argus.’ The secret iry of the Nokomai Hydraulic Sluicing Company reports that there has been a wash-up at No. 2, the result being 3560z. Good progress has been made at No. 1, where there was a short delay through a leak in the race. No. 3 has had a full week’s sluicing, and made good progress. The directors visited the claim and certain portions of the races, and found things in fairly good order. They are pleased with the future prospects. Electric No. 1 dredge has had to stop on account of the heavy drift. A washup is expected late this afternoon. The crew will be paid off until the drift becomes settled. Electric No. 2 dredge is still idle on account of the high river. The Sandy Point dredge worked 9ft ahead last week on a cut 100 yds wide, the depth of the ground being 30ft. The class of the ground and prospects were much the same as in the previous week Stacking room is very tight. THE SHARE MARKET. DUNEDIN EXCHANGE.
