WIDE-WORLD PICTURES. The Wide-World Picture Syndicate continue to receive a very fair share of public patronage. During "the last few nights their share has been a big one. the Najwleon picture being a special draw. Tonight that picture will be replaced by a number of new films, the best of Which "are '(4 reed for Gold,' 'The Last Memory.' and 'The Marvellous Ice Skater.' The winning of the English Derby, 1909. 'by His Majesty the King's Minoru is the* subject of one of to-morrow night's new pictures, and ako ' Logging in Canada,' the latter giving an insight to the great timber industry, •said to be one containing some beautiful scenery as well as being of educative value. 'Jack and Jill' will commence at His Majesty's Theatre en Wednesday next. Enormous successes have been scored by . this enterprising management with pantomime production.-;, notably, of recent vears, with 'Mother Goose.' But 'Jack ai'J Jill' i« reported by critics throughout Australia as "eclipsing even the most gorgeous of them " —a verdict most enthusiastically endorsed by Chrislchurch critics wheji 'the pantomime was produced there on Friday last. The piece is simply crammed with novel specialties, each of which it is ..aid V u'd be sullicient as the "star" effect of any ordinary production. The company appearing in the performance comprise, amongst others, Misr, Stella Gastelle (a London pantomime favorite), Miss Betty Ohls (who needs no intnxluction to a Dunedin audience), Miss Stella Selboume, Miss Olga Grey. Messrs, Morris and Wilson (the t'aanimal impersonators), and Mr Walter Stanton (whose remarkably clever act as the (riant Hoost-er was " the'hit " of last year's pantomime at- the Lyceum Theatre, London). The scenery and appointment.? are said to he on the *nlost lavish and artistic scale, and the ballets are one of the endless special features which have contributed to the unprecedented success achieved. Matinee, performances will be given on Saturday afternoon. 31st Julv, and Wednesday, 4th August. The plan of reserved seats will open at the Dresden on Friday morning.
