Gaff any (Christchurch), £2 6s, balance, due on lOU, with costs (10s); Logan Smith Donald (Mr Irwin) v. R. A. Fass (Waitepeka), for costs (12s); F. Meenan and Co. v. Freeman’s Coal Company (Mr Brugh).—Claim, £25 5s 6d, for rates due.—This case was heard some time ago. His Worship gave judgment for defendant, with costs (£2 2s). The Official Assignee in Bankruptcy of the property of Daniel Gunn M‘Leod (Mr Macassey) y. John Arthur Burnside and Elizabeth Tyler Burnside, his wife (Mr Stephens).—Claim under the Wages’ Protection and Contractors’ Lien Act, 1908, to recover from defendants the sum of £BO 12s Bd, due and owing by the defendants to Daniel Gunn M‘Leod for work done in connection wifh the erection of a house at St Clair.—Mr Macassey explained that M Leod s evidence had already been given, and he did t not propose to set forth the opening of the case. The question for the Court to decide was whether there was a coptiact to do the work for a specified amount. His 'Mr Macassey’s) contention was that M'Leod’s offer had never been accepted, but he was told to go on with the work, and Mr Burnside promised to inako arrangements later on as regards the price. M'Leod became bankrupt in January,. and he was now- claiming a 'reasonable sum at the rate of 10 per cent, foxservices rendered.—Evidence was given by H. D. Bedford (barrister), James Annand (contractor), Mr Sowerby, and the Official Assignee (Mr Fisher). (Left sitting.)
