The Commercial Travellers' Conference at Perth, after much discussion, carried a resolution recommending the Dunedin Association to affiliate with those at Auckland and Wellington. HOTEL PROPERTY" SALE. Messrs E. L. Macassey and Co. offered for sale by auction at their rooms yesterday the Lauder Railway Hotel property. consisting of 1 acre 1 "rood 35 poles of land and the hotel building re-erected thereon. The sale was under'the conduct of the Registrar of the Supreme Court in exercise of power of sale by mortgage. The property was knocked down to a bid of £9OO. GOVERNMENT LIFE INSURANCE. The bonus certificates of the Government Insurance Department are now bein" posted to policy-holders. After making substantial reserves, there was a cash surplus of £192,450 for distribution, being sufficient to provide a general increase in the individual bonuses, which range from £1 to £1 lis per cent, per annum of the sum assured, according to the standing of the policies.
