Mr Burgoyne, who is connected with the English Tariff Reform League, speaking at the annual meeting of the Imperial Federation League, said that the British Government at present were a menagerie of incompetence. The members were angels of incompetence crowned with a halo of sanctimonious humbug. He onlywished the Mother Country thought as well of the colonies as the colonies thought of the Mother Country. There was no doubt that colonials thought twice as well of Englishmen as Englishmen thought of the colonials.
