The Minister of Railways left for Oamaru this morning. He joined tho second express for Timaru, where he remains overnight. To-morrow he goes on to Lyttelton, and takes- tho steamer for Wellington. Mr Millar returns to C'hristchurch 011 Monday, and spends a few- days there preparatory to going to the West" Coast on an inspection, of tho Otira tunnel and the railway s. At the strangers' tea at the Y.M.C.A Rooms last evening Mr Huglies, the general secretory, announced that Mr C. A. Dittmer, of tlie Adelaide Y.M.C.A., had been appointed assistant secretary to tho Dunedin Association. A private telegram announces the death yesterday of Mr H. G. C. Harvey, solicitor, Christchurch, and formerly associate to Mr Justice Williams. The deceased gentleman, who was well known in this City married Miss Inglis, of St. Clair. Mr Andrew Tulloch, who, after a residence of forty-nine years in New Zealand, is about to visit his mother in Scotland' was presented on Saturday evening with a gladstone bag, travelling rug, and case of pipes by his fellow-employees at the Union Company's repairing works at-Port Chalmers. •■ -
