NEW YORK’S GREAT VOTE. COMMENTS AND OPINIONS. Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright NEW YORK, November 5. Mr Taft’s great vote in New York State and the Democrats’ debacle in New York City were the most astonishing features of the election. Mr Taft carried thirty and Mr Bryan sixteen out of the forty-six States of the Union. _ The Republicans have a working majority in the House of Representatives and a two-thirds majority in the Senate. Mt Taft claims that he was elected by the business men of the country. The Democrat and Republican farmers generally supported Eim, and he also received hie share of the Labor vote. Mr Roosevelt declares that Mr Taft’s nomination at the Chicago Convention was a triumph ever the reactionary Conservatism of a section of the party, and that his election is a triumph over unwise and improper Radicalism. The American Press display acute hostility to Mr Bryan, and tie Democrats throw upon him the whole responsibility for the party’s defeat. WHIPPING A DEAD HORSE. NEW YORK, November 5.
