[Per United Press Association.] • INVERCARGILL, November 4. The eighth annual conference of the New Zealand Federated Builders’ Association was opened to-day. Delegates to the number of twenty-four from all parts of the Dominion irere.. welcomed by the mayor. The report referred to the 'high prioo of New Zealand timber, and a fear was expressed that te a result there would bo a restriction of "building operations. The duty should be removed from foreign timbers. The repoH was adopted. The president (Mr Bennett) said the Arbitration Act had a levelling-down tendency. There should be a better system for wages, according to ability.
