NEW ZEALAND BOY’S SUCCESS. [Feu United Phess Association.] WELLINGTON, August- 17. Colonel Loveday has received a cable stating that the Onehnnga cadet, Colorsergeant Friar, who was sent Home to represent New Zealand, was second in the competition for the Lady Guinness Trophy at Bkley, open to all cadets of the Empire. A match was fired on Saturday between teams representing the Clutha Rifles and a mixed team from the N.C.O.s’ Club. The conditions were; Fifteen men a side, seven shots at ranges representing 200 and 500 yards. There was no sensational scoring on either side, Quartermaster-sergeant Kerkhan being the highest for the club with 63, while Color-sergeant M‘Neill held pride of place among the Clutha team with a score of 60. The Clutha Rifles’ aggregate of 811 was beaten by the N.0.0.5’ team, who put on 821, and thus won the match by the narrow margin of 10 points.
