TAH ON A PARK TROTTING. The winter race meeting of the Tahuna Park Trotting Chib begins to-morrow (Wednesday), and is to be continued on Saturday. The first race starts at 1.15 each day, and the last- at 5 p.m., so that everybody can get home in good time. The card for to-morrow’s racing is one of the best yet issued for the winter meeting. there being an average of fourteen lapses per race, and most of them proved trotters of high class. Special cars are to ran to and from the park. GOLF. The monthly competition for the St. Andrew’s Cross (gold and silver) took place on Balmaccwcn Links on Saturday. Basil Smith, with the splendid score of 79 (scratch) won the gold cross, while H. E. Wilson won the silver with 82 net. TO-MORROW’S ATHLETIC FIXTURES. SL Andrew Harriers hold their weekly run from Green Island School gymnasium. A. and T. Inglis’s football club practise on the Asylum Ground. BOWLING. On their green on Saturday the Caledonian Bowling Club closed the season with a match Ancients v. Modems, seven rinks a side. The scores were: Moderns 188, Ancients 148. Sealskin scratched for ah engagements at Hawke’s Bay. Dick M‘Donald, a bookmaker, pleaded guilty at Wellington yesterday to a charge of betting with an infant at Miramar Racecourse on April 25.- Chief-detective M'Grath stated that the boy with whom the bet had been made was only years of age. Defendant was fined £5.
