AUSTRALIAN SCULPTORS
HIGH PRAISE FROM CRITICS
Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright. LONDON, May 4. (Received May 5, at 9.4 a.m.) ‘The Times,’ commenting on Mr Mackennal’s (the Australian sculptor) Diana, says that the goddess is so exquisitely reproduced in marble as to make one of the most beautiful nudes the English school of sculpture has so far produced. Mr Mackennal is pretty certain to be the next Royal Academician sculptor. Mr Parker’s marble Ariadne and Ideal in bronze are remarkable statues, showing both scholarship and distinction. The Chantrey Bequest have purchased the Diana' and the Ariadne.
