The Victorian Licensing Bill, as passed, exempts clubs from the penalties attaching to unlawful gaming. No youth under eighteen (except a trainee as waiter) is to be employed in a club. Boarders at clubs are defined as " pei'sons who take their meals there from day to day." Mr Crosby (Socialist) wins the third seat in the Senate for South Australia, tho final returns giviirg him a majority of fourteen over Mr Vardon (anti-Socialist). Tho latter has demanded a recount. Mr Moor, who resigned the Premiership of Natal because was was a sleeping partner in Moor and Co., who are Government contractors, holds office temporarily, but will ceek re-election.
