MEETINGS OF SOCIETIES.
At the weekly meeting of the Rescue Dodgo of Good Templars, held in t T ' Presbyterian Schoolroom, South Dunedin, Bro. H. White, Chief Templar, presiding, encouraging imports were received from Absent Members . Committee, several old members putting in an appearance after a lengthy absence from the lodge. One brother was restored to membership, and one brother received on clearance card. After business* the lodge was thrown open to visitors, a large number attending. The Chief Templar welcomed the visitors on behalf of the lodge, and expressed the hope that a number would become members. A brother conveyed fraternal greetings from the Pioneer of -Wellington and King’s Coronation lodges. The vote of thanks to the visitors was responded to by Sis. (Alliance) and several other members from various lodges. The quarterly summoned meeting of Court Prido of Dunedin, A-0.P., was held in the Oddfellows’ Hall. Rattray street, Bio. 1). Dickson in tho chair. There was a large attendance of members and visitors. The election of officers resulted as follows: —C.U., Bro, T. Drummond; S.C.R., Bro. K, R. Quinn Trcas., Bro. A- S. Adams (re-elected) ; Sec., Bro. A. D. Miller (reelected) ; S.W.. Bro. A. C. Gillies; J.W., Bro. K. Warren: Bro. T. W. Brookes; J. 13., Bro. H. A. J. Barden; Ass. Sec.. Bro. 11. Loraine (re-elected); Trustee, Bro. A. Watson (ro-elocted) ; Auditor, Bro. 11. F. Payton (re-elected). District delegates—Bros. *G. Carr, A. D. Miller. G. W. Geddcs, and H. F. Payton. The following were nominated for district office: D.C.R., Bro. W. Palmer; D.S.C.R., Bro. W. R. Brugh; D.S., Bro. J. Macfic; D.8., Bro. A. D. Miller; D. Auditor. Bro. G. W. Geddes. Bro?. J. Macfio and J. Melville acted as scrutineers for (he various ejections. Two candidates wore initiated. Bro, Macfie- (Court Pride of the Deith) and Bro. Melville (Court Enterprise) responded 1o tho toast of the visitors.
AI. Uii' half-yearly mooting of the Loyal Albion 1-odgo in tho Oddfellows’ Hall on Thursday evening the officers for the coming term were elected, P.G.M. R. S. Black conducting the ceremony. The officers installed were:—G.M., Bro. J. Foley; N.G., Bro. J. Shankland ; V.G., Bro. G. Redman : Klee. See., Bro. S. Watson: warden, Bro. M’Neil ; guardian, Bro. White. After tho election a large amount, of business was gone through, with plenty of discussion. The permanent secretary, through serious illness, has been compelled to resign his posit ion. and his loss will be fell very deeply by the members of tho lodge. Pro. G..M. Black reported visiting several couctrv lodges, and spoke very highly of the manner in which they were conducted. He also informed the lodge that by the end of the District’s half-year there would be over 4,000 members in the Otago District. In concluding bis address the Pro. G.M. asked the lodge to accept a framed photo, of tho District officers, for which offer the lodge were deeply grateful. Deputy G.M. .Munro also reported upon the business ar present in the hands of the District. The lodge soon after closed with good wishes and Christmas greetings between the brothers. The half-ycarlv summoned meeting of Court Kxoelsior, A.0.F.. was held in the Council Chambers, Mornington, on I bursday evening. C.R. Bro. T. Weston presiding. The following brothers were elected as officers for the ensuing term ; —C.R., Bro I). Alexander; 5.C.8., Bro. G. Wallace; treasurer, Bro. W. Bridges (reelected) : secretary, Bro. W. Palmer (reelected) : S.W.. Bro. W. Ploace; JW.. Bro. Farley; 5.8., Bro. G. Lister :J.1... Bro. W. Corko ; trustee, Bro. .1. Ihompson (re-elected); auditor, Bro. A. J M° r " risen (re-elected); delegates to annual District meeting. P.C.R.s Bros. G. S. Wallace and W. Bridges. It was decided to nominate the following brothers for District officers ;—D.C.R.. Bro. W. 1 alme , D. Bro. Brngh ; D.8., Bro.W B Anderson; D.S Bro. J. Macfie; District Auditor, Bro. G. W. Gcddcs. p.S.Bro Macfie and D.B. Bro. Brugh installed the ncwlv-olected officers to their various choirs. A committee was set up to make al' noeessarv arrangements to celebrate the thirtieth anniversary of the court DB. Bro. orugh responded to t\*> toast of tho ILL* , The, fortnightly meeting of the 'Loyal Hand and Heart Lodge, M.U.1.0.0. hj., was held in the lodge room on l.’nday night G.M. Bro. Rosevear being in the chair.’ One candidate was initiated. The following officers were installed by P.G.M. Black for the ensuing hall-year . N.u., Bro. Allnutt; V.G., Bro. W. F. Lyon; E. Bro. Little ; warden, Bro. Liddicoat. P.G.M. Black presented the lodge with a Bible and framed group of the district o<r.,-0.-s for which he was thanked. P G M Bro. Black and D.P.G.M. Munro replied on behalf of the district executive. The summoned meeting was adjourned for one month.
