CAVERSHAM INDUSTRIAL SCHOOL. ' The annual distribution of prizes and presents to tho children of tho Caversham Industrial School took place on Thursday afternoon. There was a goodly attendance of friends interested in the Institution, and, thanks to tho liberality of a great many people, and to the First Church. Young People’s Society Christian Endeavor, the prizes and presents were both numerous and costly. This society, beside providing many of the prizes, presented the school girls with a Bible and the service girls with a present. Their interest and kindness is much appreciated. The Rev. Mr Dutton, in taking tho cliair, said that lie was very sorry that Mr Miller, who had been present on similar occasions for many years past, was this year unavoidably absent, but he had great pleasure in being there and in being called upon to distribute the prizes. Among his other remarks he said that ho felt sure t lie prestige of the Institution would be maintained in tho future as it had been in tho past. After tho children had received many of tho prizes from Mr Dutton, the Rev. Mr King took his place, and handed to those who had been successful many beautiful books for work done in his Bible class. Miss Jamieson then presented the prizes and presents on behalf of the First Church Y.P.iS.C.K. During the afternoon the children sang and recited. At the conclusion the visitors wore invited to afternoon tea, the baking for which had been gratuitously done by Miss Annie Falconer, who deserves the greatest praise for her success in this direction.
