THE LAND BOARD.
The regular meeting of tie Otago I/and Board, held yesterday, was presided. over by the Chief Commissioner, Mr Barron. John Earing, on behalf of James M'Guckin, applied for a rehearing of his application for »n area, of 640 acres on Lauder run, block 1, Si. Batbans.—Application declined, as the run on which the land was situated had now to bo offered as it stood without another low country. ' The County Clerk, Balclutba, wrote with reference to the available land fund accrued to the credit of Cosgrove's. road, and asked for authority to expend the same on Long Point road; amount £24 5s sd.—Granted. Banger O'Neill reported on section 60, block; 1. Catlins district, formerly held by John M'Klnley.—To be offered at a capital value of 10s per acre, burdened with valuation for improvements," £35. The Board considered the case of William Kirk, who had been called upon to show cause why bis lease over section 13, town of Waikoikoi, should not be forfeited for his. non-compliance with the residence oondition—Lease declared forfeited, such to be offered at a capital value of £4 per acre; valuation for improvements, £3. The following applications for leave to transfer leases or licenses were granted: Section 76, block 1, Naseby district, Claribel Burns to Johnston Tait (K. C. Cutten, solicitor); approved. Miscellaneous license 1,278, section 82, block 4, Tablo Hill district, Glaus Muller to David Stewart and Henry Ingram; to bo informed that transfer would be approved provided they gave an undertaking not to remove the flax. Allotment 15a, Barnego Settlement, executors of the will of the late George Harvey to his son, Georgo Harvey (Grigor and Inglis, solicitors). C. Knudson applied for a license to occupy section 12, block 12, Strath Taieri district, forest reserve.—Grazing license granted at a rental of 30s per annum. An application by S. Simmonds for a lease in perpetuity over 1,000 acres near Hokuri Creek, Martin's Bay district, was held over -pending an inspection being made by the ranger and members of the Land Board. Applications declined.—J. Colling, jun., for an area ofi from 300 to 500 acres on the Lauder run; Miss E. Wheeler for an area of about 200 acres on the Home Hills run; Miss Ann Mills for an area on Lauder run; Mrs H. Ballard for an area on Lauder run;' Richard Wilson for an area on Homo Hills run. A special meeting of tho Board will bo held on the 4th January next, tho first ordinary meeting on the 24th January, and thereafter the regular meetings will be held on the second Tuesday of each month.
