December 2a A fire occurred in Queen street shortly before two o'clock ihbs morning, when the following business places were destroyed:— Edmonds (printer), Booth and M'Donald (implement manufacturers), Lequesne aau Cowan (plumbers), James (painter), Paterson and Mossinan (agents), ScanoeS (solicitor), and large livery stables in course of erection for Sntterwaite and O'Meara. Keith and Styles, the buHderj, lose £3OO. The wind dropped after the fire had got a. pood hold, otherwise the block, from the ' Standard' printing office to TJpping's **ore, would have gone.
