Our correspondent informs us that at yesterday's sitting of the Warden's Court at Lawrence Robert Cotton, of Waipori, was charged, on the information of the Inspector of Machinery, with having in his service on the old Upper Waipori dredge an uncertificated fireman attending the boiler. —Accused admitted his guilt, urging iu extenuation that the fireman, who was a new arrival in the colony and an engineer by trade, was a capable man, who was ignorant of the law's requirements,—A conviction was entered up, and accused ordered to pay witnesses' expenses and court fees, amounting to £3 16s lOd. An information was laid against the fireman (Andrew Thompson) for being _in charge of a steam boiler without a certificate, and as he admitted his guilt, the Bench convicted and discharged him.
