PIGEON-SHOOTING.

A FINE IMPOSED. [Bi Telkgiufh.] FEILDING, September 24. ■ At the Feilding Court on Thursday the Feilding S.P.C.A. laid an information against C. Taker, of Wanganui, for illtreating a pigeon by killing it in such a manner as to subject it to unnecessary pain and suffering. The case originated out of a recent pigeon match. This morning Messrs Trewin and Burne, justices, fined defendant £5 Is and costs (£1 10s), on. the grounds that the infliction of the pain wa"? unnecessary, and that the object for which it was inflicted was unreasonable. This is the first case of the kind heard in the colony.
