GRAIN AND PRODUCE REPORT.

Dalgety and Co. report as follows:—We held our usual weekly sale of grain, and produce.at our stores yesterday, when we submitted a medium-sized catalogue, consisting of oats, wheat, barley, potatoes, and chaS, to the usual attendance of buyers and others interested in the trade. Competition for most of the lines on offer was good, and any lines passed in were quitted privately at quotations. Oats.—The market remains in much the same state as at our last report. Shipping is slack, and is chiefly confined to small coastal orders. Apart from sales of 6mall lines for local consumption there is little business passing, and values remain unchanged. We quote: Prime milling, 2s sid to 2s 4d; good to best feed, 2s 2d to 2s 3d; inferior, 2b to 2s Id per bushel (sacks extra). Wheat.—There is little business passing. Millers do not seem inclined to operate in any but the choicest lines of "Central wheat (Tuscan preferred). Medium and inferior wheat is offering freely, but holders are not willing to accept present values. Fowl wheat has good inquiry, and is readily quitted at late rates. We quote: Prime milling, 3s 5d to 3s 6d; prime Tuscan to 3s 7d; medium milling, 3s 3d to 3s 4d; best whole fowl wheat, 3s Id to 3a 2d; broken and damaged, 2s 9u to 3s per bushel (sacks extra). Potatoes.—The market is firm at late quotations. Choice table sorts meet with food inquiry, and are readily quitted, rime seed lines of British Queens and Up-to-dates have more attention from buyers. We quote: Seed 16*8, £ll -to £l2; extra choice (picked), £l3; prime Derwents, £lO to £11; medium do, £8 to £9 10s per ton (bags in). Chaff.—The market is well supplied, especially with medium and inferior quality. Really prime chaff is readily saleable on arrival, whilst other descriptions are much harder to quit at quotations. We quote: Prime oaten sheaf, £3 15s to _4; extra choice, £4 ss; medium, £3 7s 6d to £3 12s 6d; discolored and light, £3 to £3 5s per ton (bags extra). Turnips.—The market is fairlv well supplied. Swedes are bringing from 19s to 20s per ton, loose, ex truck. Straw.—There is a fair inquiry for wheaten, which we quote at from 30s to ois 6d per ton pressed, ex truck. Oaten straw is scarce, and finds a ready sale at from £2 5s to £2 7s 6d per ton, pressed.
