SPORTING INTELLIGENCE.
At last week's meeting of the Council of the New Zealand Amateur Athletic Association, at Christchurch, in response to a letter from the Dunedin Harriers it was resolved not to charge license fees for competitors in tie Port Chalmers-Pelicbet Bay Road Race on September 15 next. The Balclutha Harriers were affiliated. The members of 11m Dunedin Gun Club shot for Mr W. H. Skiteh's prize on Saturday, when there was a good attendance. The conditions of the match were: Eighteen birds, unknown angles. The competition resulted in Messrs Lawson and Vinnicombe tieing for firstplace with eighteen lolls. In tho shoot off Vinnicombe broke all his birds and won, Lawson taking second prize Others who shot well were Hutchison, Scott, Cowie, and Whalen. The following team will represent the North Island in the hockey match against the South Island, which is to be played in Wanganui on the 2nd prox.:—Goal, Ryburn (Victoria College, Wetting-ton); fu'llbacks—Cave (Wanganua), Swinbome (Taranaki) ; halves—-M'Kenzie, captain (Levin). R. Fraser (Palmerston North), and Befl (Wanganui); wing forwards, Sorrenson (Awapnni) and Thompson (Wanganui); inside forwards, Coe (Wanganui) and Rue (Masterton); centre forward, Crump (Palmerston North!
